Torch Day to Honor AAMU 150th Campaign Torchbearers

AAMU to Light the William Hooper Councill Eternal Flame on Torch Day
Alabama A&M University will mark a historic moment during Homecoming Week with the
celebration of Torch Day, set for Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Torch Day events will culminate in the lighting
of the Dr. William Hooper Councill Eternal Flame at 5:15 p.m. at the Founder’s Gravesite.
A symbol of the University’s enduring legacy and vision for the future, Torch Day
will also recognize Alabama A&M University 150th Anniversary Campaign Torchbearers - individuals having raised over $25,000 this year. Part of AAMU’s Sesquicentennial
celebration, Torch Day honors the life and leadership of founder Dr. William Hooper
Councill, uniting generations of the Bulldog family in reflection and pride.
As the Eternal Flame is lit, it will stand as a beacon of remembrance and a commitment
to carrying forward AAMU’s mission of service, scholarship, and excellence.
The general public is invited to The Block to witness the official lighting ceremony
at 5:15 p.m.
