Laricca London Biography
Research
Dr. Laricca London is the Chairperson and an Associate Professor of Biology in the
Department of Biological Sciences at Alabama A&M University. She joined the department
in 2016 after a brief Post-Doctoral training experience at The Howard University College
of Medicine. She is a trained Microbiologist, currently leading a research program
in Food Safety and the Prevention of Food-Borne Illness and Bacteriophage Genomics.
Her sentiments are that of Faye Wattleton, “my satisfaction comes from my commitment
to advancing a better world”. Dr. London is truly honored to be in a position where
she can train a new wave of scientists who are committed to producing outstanding
research and contribute to a broader body of knowledge. In addition to being a Microbiologist,
she is a very passionate 21st century STEM educator, Subject Matter Expert, Course
Developer and Academic Administrator. It is her heart’s desire to impart knowledge,
inspire and motivate every student that she encounters along with her faculty. She
is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and research. When not in the
classroom, she spends her time mentoring college and high school students. With several
years of experience in academic in both teaching and research, and now an academic
administrator, Dr. London continues to pave the way for the advancement of science.
