Faculty Engagement

Faculty Information

    • Instructors giving assignments for attending CDS events need to provide their rosters to Kaitlin Arnold (kaitlin.arnold@aamu.edu) by the start of mid-terms each semester. All requests for attendance verification must be sent to CDS at least two weeks prior to when final grades are due.
    • If students are unable to meet the requirements for attending CDS events (online students/students working full time, etc), they will have the opportunity to complete CDS Professional Development Courses in Blackboard. These courses will be available during the entirety of the semester.

Student Information

For all CDS events:

    • Only events beginning with AAMU or Alabama A&M University are considered CDS events.
    • Students who attend a CDS event (both in-person and virtual) must participate for a minimum of 15 minutes to be given credit for attending. Students must be actively engaged during the event. Students who attend the Virtual Career fair must register, sign up for, and attend at least 2 employer sessions (either one-on-one or group sessions) to receive credit for attending.
    • Registration for events does not count as attendance. Students may register, but must also attend the event in order to receive credit.
    • Photographs taken at the event will not be accepted as proof of attendance by CDS.
    • All students seeking to receive credit for attending CDS events are required to check in and check out. There will be check in and check out QR codes provided by CDS staff.  If students are unable to check-in via QR code, they will be asked to sign-in on paper. If students are unable to complete the check out survey, they will be asked to sign-out on paper.
    • Business professional attire is required for select events. Students who do not adhere to the dress code will not be permitted to enter.

Resume Reviews:

    • If a class assignment requires students to have a CDS approved resume, students may meet with a CDS staff member in our office or with an employer/recruiter at one of our events. The staff member or recruiter may have suggestions or recommendations for edits to their resume. Students are responsible for making the necessary edits or updates, then following up with the staff member or recruiter for further review.
    • The final resume must have a wet signature or stamp from a CDS staff member or recruiter indicating that it has been approved.

Mock Interviews:

    • CDS often hosts office hours and other similar mock interview and resume review events. For in-person resume reviews and mock interviews, a paper form will be available for employers to provide feedback to students. For virtual resume reviews and mock interviews, a link to a digital version of the feedback form will be shared with employers. Students are responsible for requesting the feedback form either on paper or by providing their email address to receive the digital form. This may be required by some instructors.
